Rosatom DG Meets PM, Discusses Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Progress

Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday at the Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat. 

During the meeting, which commenced at 10 am, both leaders engaged in a detailed discussion regarding the nation’s energy security and the ongoing progress of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) project. 

Prime Minister Rahman expressed his appreciation for Russia’s continued technical and technological assistance, noting its critical role in the project’s successful implementation.

In response, Alexey Likhachev reaffirmed Russia’s full support for Bangladesh’s nuclear energy ambitions and expressed confidence that the remaining phases of the RNPP project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. 

The high-level meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Prime Minister's Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, and Russian Ambassador Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin.
