The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has become a focal point for Global South cooperation, as policymakers and tech leaders from across Africa and Southeast Asia gather to explore how artificial intelligence can drive inclusive economic development.

Representatives from Indonesia, Uganda, and Ghana highlighted the summit as a vital platform for shared learning, infrastructure partnerships, and regulatory alignment.

Kautsarina Adam, representing Indonesia's Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, emphasized the importance of mutual recognition and global agreements in adopting AI to boost national economies.

She specifically pointed to the potential for Indonesia to leverage Indian datasets and frameworks to improve education and domestic regulatory standards.

From East Africa, Irene Karungi Sekitoleko, a Senior ICT Infrastructure Engineer from Uganda, expressed a strong interest in learning from India’s experience in scaling AI solutions for local contexts.

She noted that Uganda is currently developing its own governance frameworks and is seeking international partnerships to address critical infrastructure gaps, such as limited compute power.
