BSEC orders to freeze BO accounts of Benazir including wife, daughters

Capital market regulator Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has ordered to freeze BO accounts of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family members.

The order was issued on Monday (May 27) in the name of Benazir Ahmed and his wife Zeeshan Mirza, eldest daughter Farhin Rishta binte Benazir and younger daughter Tahsin Raisa bint Benazir.

According to the instructions of BSEC in this regard, no transaction can be done as these BOs while they are blocked. That is, shares cannot be traded and money cannot be deposited or withdrawn from these BO accounts.

According to relevant sources of BSEC, Benazir Ahmed and his family members have six BO accounts in the stock market.

According to the BSEC directive, in view of the relevant order of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court, six BO accounts in five brokerage houses have been ordered to be frozen until further orders.

Earlier on May 23 and 26, in view of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) application, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Assamach Jaglul Hossain ordered the seizure (croc) of various property documents, flats and shares of the company in the name of Benazir Ahmed, his wife and children.

On May 26, the court ordered attachment of 119 immovable properties in the name of former police chief Benazir Ahmed, his wife and daughter. These include 4 flats in Gulshan, a plot of land in Savar, The remaining 114 properties are in Madaripur district. Earlier, on May 23, 83 purchased properties were encroached. Also, 33 bank accounts and their securities (shares) were blocked.
