Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, Bangladesh government is holding dialogue with Myanmar but Naypyidaw is totally inactive. They are holding dialogue but not working.
She made the remarks when Kerry Kennedy, president of advocacy organization 'Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights’, met her at her office in the capital on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said, we are holding dialogue with Myanmar as we want a peaceful solution to the Rohingya crisis but unfortunately they are doing nothing though agreed to all the matters.
She said, Rohingyas are great burden for us. Local people came forward voluntarily to help Rohingyas though they face loss by losing their cultivable land, trees and forest.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim informed the newsmen about the meeting. He said that the talks mainly held on Rohingya issue.
More than 7 lakh Rohingyas fled their homes from Myanmar and intruded into Bangladesh following fresh crackdown on Rohingyas in Rakhine state after August 25 last year. United Nations Human Rights Commission termed the incidents as ‘textbook example of ethnic cleansing’. At present nearly 11 lakh Rohingyas are residing in Bangladesh.
