Hundreds of Bangladeshis are trapped in the country because of the new conditions of the Indian Embassy in the field of medical treatment. They have been unable to return home for two weeks due to slowness in applying to the Indian Immigration Bureau office to return home. They are facing economic loss.

One of the victims is Saidur Neer Salin. His father Mohammad Shah Alam is suffering from a complex disease. On the advice of relatives, Salin went to India with his father last month on a medical visa for better treatment. Before leaving, he showed a hospital certificate from Kolkata as per embassy requirements. But after entering India, he finds that Hyderabad delivers more advanced treatment. Later Salin left Calcutta and took his father to Hyderabad. There, the doctor gave his father first aid and suggested an operation. But he decided to return as his father's physical condition deteriorated and he needed a large sum of money for treatment.

Salin said, 'When I returned on June 21, the Petrapole Immigration of India asked me why I saw a doctor in Hyderabad instead of Calcutta. At one stage, the officials gave us a temporary ban on returning to the country and admitted the mistake and asked us to apply online at the Immigration Bureau. Compulsively checked into a residential hotel and applied online. But even after two weeks of application, I am not able to return to the country due to the lack of permission from the immigration. We have to stay at the hotel. We are suffering from it. I don't even know when I can return.'

Many others like Salin and his father are facing this problem on their way back home after going to India on medical visa. The victims said that they are suffering because of the eccentricity of the Indian Embassy.

It is known that 20 to 22 lakh passport holders use Benapole-Petrapole Border every year for advanced medical services, higher education, business inquiries and sightseeing.
