Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) decided to increase the price of gold by Tk 1,190 over Tk 1,20,081 per bhori which created a new record in the history of gold prices in Bangladesh.
This was informed in a press release signed by Masudur Rahman, Chairman of the Bajus Price Determination and Price Monitoring Standing Committee on Sunday (July 14).
It is said that the price of pure gold increased in the local market. As a result, the new price of gold has been fixed considering the overall situation.
According to the new prices, per bhori (11.664 grams) of 22 carat gold will cost Tk 1,20,081. Apart from this, the price of gold has been set at Tk 1,14,622 for 21 carat, Tk 98,246 for 18 carat and Tk 81,229 for traditional method.
A government mandated 5 percent VAT and a Bajus-mandated minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wages may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
