16 sluices of Kaptai Dam were closed after 6 hours

16 spillways of Kaptai dam have been closed after being kept open for 6 hours.

The water taps were closed at 2 pm on Sunday (August 25). Earlier, the authorities opened 16 spillways or sluices of Kaptai Dam at 8 am today.

Karnaphuli Hydro Power Plant Manager (Superintending Engineer) ATM Abduzzaher confirmed this to RTV News.

He said that 16 sluices of Kaptai dam were opened at 8 am. 9 thousand cusecs of water was released from Kaptai lake in Karnaphuli every second. The spillways were opened as the waters of Kaptai Lake neared the boundary line. The water taps were closed again at 2 pm.
