ACC to Question Tipu Munshi and Family in Wealth Probe
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will interrogate former Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in connection with allegations of illegally acquiring wealth through corruption. His wife, Irene Malbika Munshi, and daughters, Tanya Ananya Munshi and Trisha Munshi, have also been summoned for questioning on similar charges.
The family members are scheduled to appear at the ACC office on Thursday, September 12. A senior ACC official confirmed that an official notice had been sent to the former minister's family, requesting their presence and submission of relevant documents. Since Tipu Munshi is currently in jail, his statement will be taken at a later date.
Tipu Munshi was arrested by RAB on August 28 in connection with a murder case in Rangpur. Prior to his arrest, on August 22, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) froze the bank accounts of Tipu Munshi and his family.
The ACC is also investigating corruption allegations against 13 other former ministers and MPs, including Anisul Haque, Tajul Islam, Faridul Haque Khan, and Hasanul Haque Inu.
