Former Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was apprehended by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Intelligence Branch late Sunday night, September 15. The arrest took place on Bailey Road in the capital around 11 p.m.

Noor, a prominent figure in both politics and the arts, is a suspect in a case filed at Mirpur police station. His political career included serving as Bangladesh's Minister of Culture Affairs in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's third cabinet. He represented the Nilphamari-2 constituency as a Member of Parliament from 2001 until 2024, when he lost his position after the President dissolved the National Parliament following the Non-Cooperation Movement.

Outside politics, Noor is a celebrated actor with over 110 television dramas and serials to his credit. Among his most memorable roles are in the television shows Ei Sob Din Raatri (1985), Ayomoy (1988), Kothao Kew Nei (1990), Aaj Rabibar (1999), and Samudra Vilas Pvt Ltd (1999). He became famous for his portrayal of 'Baker Bhai' in the popular series Kothao Kew Nei.

In addition to his TV work, Noor performed in over 50 radio dramas and featured films, such as Shankhoneel Karagar (1992) and Aguner Parashmoni (1994). His contributions to Bangladeshi culture were recognized with the prestigious Independence Day Award in 2018. Noor also led the Bangladesh Recitation Coordination Council as its president for many years.
