Govt Sends 6 Senior Police Officers on Compulsory Retirement

The government has sent six police officers on compulsory retirement. In the interest of the public, the President has given them this leave under his authority. These officers will get retirement benefits as per the rules.

On Sunday (September 22), six officials were sent on compulsory retirement in six separate notifications of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Senior Secretary Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen signed the notification by order of the President.

The 6 officers are - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Assistant Commissioner Md. Dadon Fakir, Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police of APBN Headquarters, Mizanur Rahman, Commandant (Superintendent of Police) of Range Reserve Force (RRF) ordered to be attached as Superintendent of Police in Dhaka Police Department.

AKM Hafiz Akhtar, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Additional IG, Supernumerary) Bashir Ahmad, Deputy Inspector General of Police, and Devdas Bhattacharya, Railway Police Additional Inspector General. They are attached to Dhaka Industrial Area Police.

In these separate announcements, senior secretary Dr. Mohammad Abul Momen said that BCS (Police) cadre officers have been retired from public service in the public interest according to the provisions of section 45 of the Public Service Act, 2018 (Act No. 57 of 2018).

These officers sent on compulsory retirement will get retirement benefits as per the rules. The notification also mentions that this order was issued in the public interest and will be effective immediately.

Earlier on August 13, the former head of the special branch (SB) of the police and additional IGP Md. Monirul Islam and recently former DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman were sent on compulsory retirement.

On August 21, Atiqul Islam, Md. Anwar Hossain, Additional IGP of police headquarters, and CTTC head Md. Asaduzzaman, Mahabubur Rahman, Additional IGP of Industrial Area Police, newly ex-CID chief Mohammad Ali Mia and police headquarters DIG Joydev Kumar Bhadra were sent on compulsory retirement by the government.

On August 27, Krishnapad Roy, the former commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Headquarters Additional IGP, Mozammel Haque, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG), and Rakibul Islam, Additional Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Headquarters retired.

Last on September 2, Tourist Police Chief Additional IGP Mir Rezaul Alam, Police Headquarters Additional IGP Khandakar Lutful Kabir, DIG of CID Md. Imam Hossain and Additional DIG of Noakhali Police Training Center Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir were sent to retirement.

Many retired officers have been involved in murder cases. Some of them have already been detained.
