Owner Sohel Rana's Bail Suspended
The Appellate Division ordered the disposal of the ruling on the bail of Sohel Rana, the owner of the collapsed Rana Plaza in Savar, in a murder case filed in connection with the death of 1,134 people in Rana Plaza collapse within two months.
According to the order, Sohel Rana's bail will be suspended for these two months.
The order was issued on Monday (October 28) by a three-judge bench headed by Senior Judge of the Appellate Division Md. Ashfaqul Islam.
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir appeared in court on behalf of Sohel Rana. Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rauf heard for the state.
Earlier, the chamber court suspended the bail granted to Sohel Rana by the High Court in the murder case filed in the Rana Plaza collapse on October 2 and sent it to the Appellate Division.
Chamber Justice Md. Rezaul Haque passed this order.

On October 1, the High Court granted 6 months' bail to Sohel Rana, the owner of Rana Plaza. Justice Md. A High Court bench of Ataur Rahman Khan and Justice KM Hafizul Alam granted him bail.
Advocate Sajjatul Haider Chowdhury heard on behalf of Sohel Rana in the court. Deputy Attorney General Md Masud Rana heard on behalf of the state.
Later, the state filed a petition seeking suspension of bail in the High Court.
On April 6, 2023, the High Court granted bail to Sohel Rana in this case. Later on April 9, the Appellate Division filed an appeal suspending the bail granted by the High Court.
In March 2022, the High Court issued a ruling asking why Rana should not be granted bail. He was granted bail on April 6 after the ruling was declared valid.
On April 24, 2013, the biggest accident in the country's history, the Rana Plaza collapse took place. 1,134 people died in this incident. Almost all of them were garment factory workers. The main accused in the murder case is Sohel Rana, the owner of Rana Plaza.
