The BNP submitted 62 proposals to the Constitutional Reform Commission, including the reintroduction of the positions of vice president and deputy prime minister.

The party's proposals also include introducing a provision to limit a prime minister's tenure to no more than two consecutive terms, the creation of a second chamber in parliament, and provisions for referendums.

A BNP delegation went to the parliament building today to present the party's proposals for constitutional reform. The delegation was led by Salahuddin Ahmed, one of the party's standing committee members. They held a meeting with the committee led by the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, Dr. Ali Riaz, for about 15 minutes.

After the meeting, BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed said that the BNP proposal talks about the balance of power. The reform committee will finalize the recommendations and submit them to the government. Then the elected government will come and make these amendments.

He said we have proposed to change the political character in the main part of the proposal. We have given the proposals keeping in mind the aspirations of the people and the spirit of the blood pledge of the martyrs of July-August so that a dictatorship does not arise in the future.

Salahuddin Ahmed further said, we have given proposals in all areas including the law and judiciary so that the state is balanced.

In addition to the proposal to keep the provision of a bicameral parliament and referendum, BNP's notable proposals include that no one can be the prime minister for more than two consecutive terms and that the provision of the posts of deputy prime minister and vice president be included in the interest of decentralization of power.

Meanwhile, after the meeting with the BNP delegation, the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, Dr Ali Riaz, said that the Constitutional Reform Commission will conduct a survey across the country next week. The opinions of everyone from villages to cities, young to old will be taken.

Incidentally, the Constitutional Reform Commission led by Professor Ali Riaz had requested political parties to send written proposals for constitutional reform. In continuation of this, BNP submitted its proposals in this regard on Tuesday (November 26) morning.

Moreover, the commission has already started exchanging views with other stakeholders including prominent citizens.
