Home Adviser Urges Not to Engage Drinking in Public Places on 31st Night
On the eve of New Year, many young people are seen consuming various beverages in public spaces. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Affairs Advisor urged them to avoid such activities in public.
The statement was made on Sunday (December 8) during a meeting at the Secretariat regarding the law and order situation ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve.
The Home Affairs Advisor remarked, "On New Year's Eve, our youth often indulge in various kinds of drinks in different places. Such activities should be confined indoors, ensuring that public roads and areas are not disrupted."
He further added, "Sometimes, chaos arises among the youth during New Year's celebrations. If we guide them in advance that such behavior is inappropriate, they can be cautious. You can advise them against such activities."
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury mentioned that all bars would remain closed on New Year's Eve and strict measures would be taken to ensure no disturbances occur in public spaces.
He also stated, "Since fireworks and lanterns are not permitted during our religious events, we have prohibited their use on New Year's Eve. Nobody should release lanterns."
Additionally, Jahangir Alam stressed, "No foreigner will be allowed to stay in Bangladesh illegally. A notice regarding this has been issued to the media today."
