The government is actively working to bring former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh through Interpol, Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters during a security inspection at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, the adviser noted marked improvements in the immigration system, stating, "There has been significant development compared to earlier."
In response to queries about former President Md Abdul Hamid's recent unauthorized travel to Thailand, he said a three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the breach. "We expect the report soon. Legal action will follow against those involved," he added.
Asked whether the Special Branch had issued any travel restrictions against the former president, Jahangir said he had no knowledge of such directives but confirmed that the matter is under investigation.
Commenting on the ongoing anti-Awami League demonstrations, he urged protesters to be mindful of public suffering. "Protests should not disrupt people's movement. There are other ways to press demands," he said.
