Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has urged citizens to cast their ballots without hesitation, expressing firm optimism for a free and fair electoral process.
After casting his own vote at the Science Building of Adamjee Cantonment College at 10:24 am on Thursday, the Army Chief described the day as a joyful and historic milestone that the country has anticipated for the past year and a half.
He emphasized that the long-awaited opportunity for a transparent election has finally arrived, calling it a pivotal moment in the nation's life.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman noted that a peaceful atmosphere has prevailed across Bangladesh since the morning, with early updates from across the country indicating a secure and conducive environment for voters.
He specifically highlighted the "very peaceful manner" in which the polls are being conducted, reassuring the public that the security situation remains stable.
The Army Chief also extended his praise to media professionals, acknowledging their vital role in providing real-time information that builds public confidence and encourages people to head to the polling stations.
Concluding his remarks, the General expressed his hope for a successful completion of the voting day, reaffirming the military's commitment to supporting a process that reflects the will of the people.
He reiterated his call for everyone to step out of their homes without fear to exercise their fundamental rights, stating his belief that, Insha'Allah, the country will successfully conclude a free, fair, and credible election.
