The nation will pay glowing tribute to the valiant sons of the soil who, in 1952, made the supreme sacrifice to establish Bangla as a state language, a movement that ultimately sowed the seeds of Bangladesh's independence.

The day’s proceedings will commence at the Central Shaheed Minar at 12:01 am, where the President and the Prime Minister will lead the nation in placing wreaths.

They will be followed by foreign diplomats, political leaders, and people from all walks of life.

To ensure the solemnity of the event, law enforcement agencies have deployed enhanced security measures across the capital, particularly around the Shaheed Minar and Azimpur Graveyard, where many language heroes are laid to rest.

As a public holiday, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, autonomous and private buildings.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has organized an extensive nationwide program, including mobile musical concerts on trucks and boats, film screenings at the upazila level, and special prayers at all places of worship.

In a nod to the country's diversity, street islands in Dhaka have been decorated with festoons featuring the alphabets of various ethnic communities alongside Bangla.

The spirit of the day extends to the ongoing Amar Ekushey Book Fair and various cultural competitions organized by the Bangla Academy and Shishu Academy.

To encourage public engagement with history, the Bangladesh National Museum and various archaeological sites will offer free entry to students, children, and senior citizens.

Documentaries and archival materials—including graffiti from the 2024 mass uprising—will be displayed to connect the legacy of 1952 with contemporary movements.

Recognized by UNESCO in 1999, the day will also be celebrated globally by Bangladesh missions abroad, highlighting the universal right to protect and preserve mother languages.

From the streets of Dhaka to the smallest union councils, the nation stands ready to honor the legacy of Salam, Rafique, Shafique, Jabbar, and Barkat, ensuring their sacrifice continues to inspire future generations.
