Bangladesh has gifted more than 1,750 kilograms of premium-quality mangoes to distinguished personalities in Nepal as part of its annual 'Season's Best Compliments' initiative, aimed at strengthening goodwill and people-to-people ties between the two neighboring countries.
According to a message received here on Saturday, the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu distributed the mangoes among Nepali dignitaries, senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, and friends of Bangladesh in a unique display of what has become known as "Mango Diplomacy".
The embassy team successfully delivered the mango packs to over 360 recipients, including the President of Nepal, the Speaker, and members of the Council of Ministers.
The specialized consignment consisted entirely of the renowned Khirshapat variety, a Geographical Indication (GI)-certified mango widely recognized as one of the most flavorful varieties in the Indian subcontinent.
To ensure optimum freshness and quality, the mangoes were freshly harvested from two select orchards in Chapainawabganj—popularly known as Bangladesh's mango capital.
They were then transported to Nepal via a specific cross-border route through the Banglabandha Port, the Fulbari Land Port on the Siliguri border, and the Kakarbhitta Port.
The embassy stated that the initiative directly reflected the enduring friendship and close people-to-people relations shared between Bangladesh and Nepal.
It further noted that the gesture symbolized the warmth, goodwill, and spirit of diplomacy that continue to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly nations.
Concluding the initiative, the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu expressed its sincere appreciation to all those involved in making this year's 'Season's Best Compliments' initiative a success, explicitly highlighting the vital role of cultural and public diplomacy in fostering closer ties between the peoples of Bangladesh and Nepal.
