The government has initiated extensive relief and recovery operations in the flood-hit regions of Chattogram, with Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury promising that official support will remain steadfast until every affected family is completely rehabilitated.

While speaking during a relief distribution drive in the Patenga area on Friday morning, the minister detailed that the ongoing deluge has impacted approximately seven lakh residents across the district.

He noted that emergency aid has successfully reached over one lakh victims so far, alongside parallel efforts to resettle displaced individuals.

To sustain the affected communities, the government is actively distributing cooked meals, rice, and dry food items.

Acknowledging the severe toll the disaster has taken on local infrastructure, the minister pointed out that numerous roads have been compromised by the floodwaters.

He issued direct instructions to the relevant administrative bodies to accelerate restoration efforts, confirming that emergency repair work is already underway.

Following the distribution program in Patenga, the finance minister journeyed toward Chandanaish upazila.

His itinerary for the remainder of the day includes visits to several other severely hit pockets of the district—including Satkania, Lohagara, and Banshkhali upazilas—to personally oversee and hand out relief materials to the stranded populations.
