Suspected aircraft hijacker’s identity confirmed

The identity of said ‘Mahadi’ who tried to hijack the Dubai bound aircraft ‘Mayurpangkhi’ of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been confirmed. His name is Polash Ahmed (24). Father’s name Piyar Jahan Sardar. He hailed from Dudhgata village of Pirojpur union under Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district. The information came through Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) database.

Confirming the information RAB’s legal and media wing Director Mufti Mahmud Khan said, the finger print of the youth who was killed in commando operation while trying to hijack the aircraft, matched with a criminal of RAB database.

According to the passenger list, the name of that youth as passenger was ‘AHMED/MD POLASH’, seat number 17A. According to the passenger list and Biman ticket he was a passenger of domestic route (Dhaka-Chattogram). The aircraft Boeing-737 was scheduled to fly towards Dubai via Chattogram.

It was known that, Polash passed the Dakhil examination from local Tahirpur Dakhil Madrassa in 2011. Then he was admitted in the eleventh grade in Sonargaon Degree College but could not complete his education.

But legal and media wing Director of RAB could not deliver further information in which kind of crime Polash’s name was listed in RAB criminal database.
