Deputy Commander of liberation war and former minister Air Vice Marshal AK Khandaker (retd.) has withdrawn specific section of his written book after an allegation of history distortion raised against him.
AK Khandaker organized a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium on Saturday and declared about withdrawing the controversial section of his written book ‘1971: Vetore Baire (Inside Out)’. Along with that he sought pardon about the false information mentioned in the book to the nation and departed soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
At the press conference AK Khandaker said, the book ‘1971: Vetore Baire’ was published from Prothoma publications in August 2014. After publishing the book protest rose from all over the country about a special section on page 32 and other parts of the book. I believe many beloved countrymen were shocked for that special section. The information in which way came to the book or not, I am responsible for this false information. Bangabandhu in his 7th March speech never uttered the word ‘Joy Pakistan’. So I am withdrawing the whole section mentioned as special section on page 32 of my book. In line of that I am seeking pardon to the nation and departed soul of Bangabandhu.
In a section of his book AK Khandaker said that after completion of his speech in the historic gathering at Racecourse Ground on March 7, 1971 Bangabandhu chanted slogan saying ‘Joy Pakistan’. In fact for this information the book fell into criticism. At that time demand also rose to ban the book. Many alleged that history was distorted in the book willingly.
Earlier the Deputy Commander of liberation war and former minister AK Khandaker (Bir Uttam) at a television program sought pardon in this regard but for the first time he sought pardon to the nation after organizing a press conference.
