Last year 8 lakh 54 thousand 253 people died in the country. This number is 31 thousand 412 more than the number of death in the year 2019.
Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury, Secretary of statistics and information management delivered the information at a press conference at the BBS (Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics) bhaban at Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday.
He said, in 2019 total 8 lakh 22 thousand 841 people died and the number of death in 2020 was 8 lakh 54 thousand 253.
Yamin Chowdhury said, in 2020 total 8 thousand 248 people died from coronavirus. In 2019 total 1 lakh 47 thousand 259 people died from heart attack and the number of death in 2020 was 1 lakh 80 thousand 408. In 2019 total 67 thousand 7 people died from heart disease and the number of death was 43 thousand 204 in 2020 due to the same reason.
The Secretary said, in 2019 total 22 thousand 30 people died from diabetes which was 25 thousand 6 in the year 2020. In 2019 total 10 thousand 622 people died from kidney disease and due to the same reason 28 thousand 17 people died in 2020.
Besides, in 2019 total 45 thousand 502 people died from stroke and the figure was 85 thousand 360 in the year 2020. In 2019 total 1 thousand 180 females died from breast cancer and the number of death was 3 thousand 11 in the year 2020 due to the same reason, added Yamin Chowdhury.
