Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq is no more. He breathed his last at a hospital in United Kingdom at 10:23 pm Bangladesh standard time (London local time 4:23 pm) on Thursday. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.
Annisul Huq was suffering from cerebral vasculitis (one kind of neurological problem associated with pain) and was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Euston University College Hospital in central London.
Annisul Huq went to London on a personal visit along with his family members on 29th July. As he fell sick there he was admitted to the hospital on 13th August.
Annisul Huq was born in Noakhali on 27th October, 1952. He spent his childhood at his maternal grandfather’s house at Sonapur village under Amirabad union of Sonagazi in Feni district. He completed his Bachelor degree in Economics under Chittagong University.
Annisul Huq gained popularity as a television program host in the 80s decade. He hosted a face to face program between Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia on BTV before the election of 1991. He served as the BGMEA President in 2005-06.
In 2008 he was elected the President of FBCCI, the apex body of businessmen in Bangladesh. Businessman Annisul Huq was elected Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) as a candidate of ruling Awami League in 2015.
Annisul Huq and Rubana Huq couple has three offspring.
