Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has requested to postpone his upcoming official visit to Bangladesh amid escalating tensions with India over the Kashmir issue.
The announcement came during a press conference on Thursday, April 24, as reported by the BBC.
Dar was originally scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on a two-day official trip starting April 27. The visit was finalized during a recent trip by Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch to Dhaka on April 17.
Although the Bangladesh government has yet to issue a formal response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had been preparing for the visit. Several bilateral agreements were expected to be signed during the trip, and preliminary discussions had already taken place between the two nations.
This would have been the first visit by a Pakistani foreign minister to Bangladesh since Hina Rabbani Khar's trip in 2012.
