A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying 71 passengers, including children, landed safely in Dhaka after one of its wheels fell off shortly after takeoff from Cox's Bazar International Airport.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon. According to ABM Rawsan Kabir, General Manager of Public Relations at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the aircraft lost a rear wheel moments after taking off from the Cox's Bazar runway. Despite the mechanical failure, the plane successfully landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:17 pm.
All passengers disembarked safely, and no injuries were reported. The airline has confirmed that the aircraft was under the command of Captain Billal at the time of the incident.
Flight BG 436, a Dash 8-400, departed Cox's Bazar at 1:20 pm en route to Dhaka. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot alerted Dhaka Air Traffic Control (ATC) requesting permission for an emergency landing.
In response, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport initiated emergency procedures, including putting fire and rescue services on standby.
