Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has expressed deep sorrow over the Air India flight crash in Ahmedabad, India, which was en route to London.
He conveyed his condolences in a post made on his verified Facebook page on Thursday (June 12).
In his post, Tarique Rahman wrote, "It is a heartbreaking incident that an Air India flight bound for London lost control and crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, Gujarat."
He further added, "I extend my deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. Let us all stand by them with prayers during this time of grief."
It is worth noting that an Air India flight bound for London crashed into a residential area in Meghanin, Ahmedabad, India, on Thursday (June 12) afternoon. The plane was carrying 242 occupants, including two pilots, 10 cabin crew, and 230 passengers.
A video widely circulated on social media showed the aircraft struggling to gain altitude before crashing in a massive fireball moments later.
Yesterday evening, Indian media outlets Indian Express and NDTV reported that no one survived among the 242 occupants on the crashed plane. However, more than 200 bodies have been recovered so far.
