Ivars Ijabs, the head of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission, has characterized the atmosphere surrounding the 13th National Parliamentary Election as "highly positive" and "encouraging."
Speaking at a media briefing on Tuesday morning, February 10, Mr. Ijabs noted that security arrangements for the upcoming polls appear robust. He announced that the mission’s short-term observers are officially deploying across the country starting today.
"Currently, the election environment is very positive," Ijabs stated. "While there are certain areas that require further discussion, the overall environment is, by and large, encouraging."
The Chief Observer emphasized that the EU is prioritizing a participatory election—one that ensures the active involvement of women and minority groups.
