Newly appointed Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has paid a courtesy call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin. During the meeting, the Prime Minister greeted the President with a floral bouquet.
The meeting took place at the National Parliament Building on Tuesday evening (February 17), immediately following the swearing-in ceremony.
Earlier, at 4:00 PM, President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath of office to Tarique Rahman as the country’s 11th Prime Minister in a grand ceremony held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament.
Marking the BNP's return to power after 20 years, the inaugural ceremony was held for the first time in the open square of the Parliament Building.
Alongside the Prime Minister, the President also administered the oath to 25 full ministers and 24 ministers of state of the new cabinet.
Following the swearing-in, the Prime Minister and cabinet members signed the oath book. The event was attended by various local and foreign diplomats, political leaders, and distinguished dignitaries.
