Govt to Offer Subsidized Meat, Milk, and Eggs to 1M Families This Ramadan

The government has launched an initiative to meet the protein needs of 1 million low-income families by providing milk, eggs, and meat at subsidized rates during Ramadan.

State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, announced the program on Thursday (February 19).

The Minister shared the details during the inauguration of the affordable dairy and meat sales program at the Livestock Research Institute in Mohakhali, Dhaka.

Key Highlights of the Initiative:
Target: 1 million families nationwide.

Locations: Currently operational at 25 spots in the capital, including Uttara, Azimpur, and Mirpur.

Expansion: The State Minister confirmed that the initiative will be expanded to other districts across the country and will continue throughout the entire month of Ramadan.

Subsidized Pricing:
The government has set the following prices for the program to ensure affordability:

Eggs 96 BDT per dozen
Milk 80 BDT per kg
Meat 650 BDT per kg

Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku expressed optimism that this move would not only assist low-income households but also help drive down prices in the general commodity market.
