CID Recovers 44 Crore Taka Siphoned Abroad

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bangladesh Police has successfully repatriated approximately $3.62 million USD—equivalent to roughly 44.45 crore BDT—which had been laundered abroad through fraudulent activities.

Special Superintendent of Police (CID) Jashim Uddin Khan confirmed the recovery on Sunday (March 29).

According to the official, the recovered funds are linked to the widely discussed MTFE (Metaverse Foreign Exchange) scam.

CID officials have been working for an extended period to track and retrieve the vast sums of money smuggled out of the country through this multi-layered fraud.

"We have successfully brought back over 44 crore BDT so far," Jashim Uddin Khan stated. He attributed the breakthrough to the CID's persistent efforts and effective international cooperation

.Relevant officials noted that operations to recover the remaining laundered funds are currently underway, and the investigation into the scam is ongoing.
