Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended his heartfelt greetings to the diverse ethnic communities living in the Chittagong Hill Tracts on the occasion of their traditional festivals—Biju, Sangrai, Boisū, Sangkran, Bishu, and Changlan.
In a message released on Saturday (April 11), the Prime Minister offered his congratulations to the members of various ethnic groups celebrating these major social festivals, which coincide with the Bengali New Year and Chaitra Sangkranti. He also extended his warm wishes for the upcoming Pohela Boishakh.
A Celebration of National Unity
The Prime Minister emphasized that the religious and social festivals of all communities—regardless of religion, caste, or whether they reside in the hills or the plains—are an integral part of the nation’s collective celebrations. He expressed his hope that these festivities would bring peace and joy to national life.
"The traditions, heritage, and history of the various ethnic groups in the hilly regions are an inseparable part of Bangladesh’s national history and culture. They make our heritage glorious, rich, and beautiful," Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated.
He added that the essence of communal harmony and human connection is deeply embedded in the country’s folk traditions.

Highlighting Bangladesh’s reputation for communal harmony, the Prime Minister reiterated the government's firm commitment to ensuring the progress, security, and fundamental constitutional rights of every citizen.
