Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has remarked that fuel prices in Bangladesh remain under control compared to other countries. He stated, "We are in a significantly better position regarding fuel than many other nations. Our domestic oil prices are well-regulated in comparison."
He made these comments to journalists on Wednesday (May 6) following a program titled ‘The Law Compass Dialogue’ held at the Annex Auditorium of Hotel Sheraton in Banani, Dhaka.
The adviser noted that the government has engaged in discussions with both domestic and international scholars, successfully managing international bargaining, negotiations, and alternative sourcing. "Today, we are in a strong position regarding energy. We have kept the supply stable according to demand," he added.
He further emphasized that despite numerous global challenges, the government is treating each hurdle as an opportunity to move the country forward.
Focus on Democratic Values and Governance
Mahdi Amin highlighted that the 13th National Parliamentary Election has brought in a government whose power is rooted in the people. He stated, "We believe that to lead Bangladesh forward, the state must be governed by embracing the aspirations and expectations of the public.
For the past two and a half months since the election, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has begun fulfilling every clause of the election manifesto, which is unprecedented and historic."
He also pointed out the renewed vibrancy within the Parliament, where members of both the treasury and opposition benches are engaging in open discussions regarding local issues and solutions.
"This coexistence and equilibrium among political parties will define the future of Bangladesh. We want to move forward by upholding human rights, the rule of law, freedom of speech, and democratic values while embracing diverse opinions," he said.
Stability and National Progress
The Adviser mentioned that under the Prime Minister's leadership, policies are becoming effective and public expectations are being met.
Regarding the national situation, Mahdi Amin noted that the law and order situation remains stable. "People's fortunes are changing. Progress is being made in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure as per our commitments.
In the Bangladesh we envision, there will be mutual cordiality and coexistence, free from the 'mal-politics' of misinformation. We want everyone to stand together for what is true, right, and just."
