Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has stated that the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year has been formulated with the nation's future in mind and for the welfare of every citizen of Bangladesh.
The Finance Minister made these remarks while speaking to journalists on Thursday (June 11) on his way to the budget session in parliament, where he is set to unveil the economic blueprint for the country for the next fiscal year.
The Finance Minister noted that all aspects of the budget have been designed with a primary focus on overall national development and improving the standard of living.
He pointed out that the context of this year’s budget is somewhat unique, as a national budget is being presented under an elected government after a long period.
Consequently, public expectations and aspirations are exceptionally high. He emphasized that the government has endeavored to draft the budget keeping those expectations, ideas, and future goals at the forefront.
He added that the budget had to be formulated within the limits of the country's current financial capacity.
The overarching goal is to guide the country toward stability from a devastated and fragile economy, ultimately building a prosperous Bangladesh. He stated that this budget reflects a concerted effort to achieve that objective.
The Finance Minister further highlighted that the most crucial aspect of this budget is its focus on inclusivity, ensuring that all citizens are brought into the fold.
Special emphasis has been placed on enabling everyone to participate in national economic activities so that the benefits of economic growth trickle down to all segments of society.
He concluded by stating that this budget has been prepared with the vision of laying the foundation for a welfare state. Despite limited resources, the government will strive to implement this budget by taking everyone along.
