A youth from Jamalpur’s Madarganj upazila, identified as Maful, has reportedly been killed in a drone attack in Russia. The news of his death reached his family on Sunday (June 14).
The deceased, Maful, was the son of Banu Miah, a resident of Char Guzamanika village under Karaichara Union No. 2 in Madarganj upazila.
Maful’s family revealed that he had moved to Russia just one month and twelve days ago. The family had lost all contact with him since May 29. After weeks of receiving no updates, family members finally learned of his demise. Relatives claim that he was killed in a drone strike.
According to the family, Maful had called home multiple times after arriving in Russia, complaining that he was not given the job he was promised. Instead, he was sent to the battlefield. During those conversations, he had asked his family to pray for him.
Madarganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Suman Chowdhury said, "We have heard reports of his death in Russia. We are contacting the family and will inform higher authorities once the necessary information is gathered."
