A collision occurred between the Dhaka-bound Dhumketu Express and the Panchagarh-bound Banglabandha Express near the wash pit at Rajshahi Station.
The incident took place around 2:30 pm on Saturday (March 15).
According to Shahabul Islam, the wash pit supervisor at Rajshahi Station, the Banglabandha Express was moving from the wash pit toward the station, while the Dhumketu Express was heading in the opposite direction. Due to a signal malfunction, the Banglabandha Express collided with the Dhumketu Express, causing a derailment. Multiple carriages from both trains were damaged, with the Banglabandha Express suffering the most impact.
Station Master Abul Kalam Azad stated that the Dhumketu Express was scheduled to depart for Dhaka at 4:00 pm, but the departure may be delayed due to the ongoing recovery process. A recovery train has already been dispatched to the site.
