Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has made another attempt to push people into Bangladesh through the Jamalpur border.
The incident took place at midnight on Monday in the Kumarchor area near the Bagharchor border under Dewanganj Upazila.
According to Jamalpur 35 BGB and local residents, the BSF has been trying to push individuals into Bangladesh through various border points over the last few days.
Amid ongoing border tensions, the BSF reportedly switched off their searchlights on Monday night near the Bagharchor and Patharer Chor borders in Kumarchor to push 18 individuals across the line.
However, the attempt was completely foiled due to the strict vigilance and firm stance of the Jamalpur 35 BGB and local villagers.
The incident triggered fresh tension and panic along the Jamalpur border.
Local residents, armed with sticks, joined forces with the BGB and took up strategic positions along the frontier to protect the area.
This follows a similar incident on Sunday night when the BGB and locals successfully blocked an attempt by the BSF to push eight individuals through the Boraibari border.
Reports indicate that the BSF has repeatedly attempted push-ins along the Jamalpur border over the past few days, all of which have been thwarted by the high alert maintained by the BGB and strong community resistance.
Currently, BGB personnel across 15 Border Outposts (BOPs) are conducting round-the-clock patrols along the 72-kilometer border stretch under the Jamalpur battalion.
To prevent illegal infiltration, additional security measures alongside intelligence surveillance have been greatly enhanced.
Local public representatives and community leaders are also staying awake through the night to support the BGB in monitoring the situation.
Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, Commander of the Jamalpur BGB, confirmed the situation, stating that illegal push-in attempts have been made along this border for several days.
He emphasized that the BGB, in close coordination with the local population, is successfully neutralizing all such attempts.
