14 Companies in Beximco Park to Shut Down from February 28

Fourteen companies in Beximco Industrial Park, which were previously laid off, will be permanently shut down starting February 28. To settle all outstanding payments for affected workers and employees up to February, a phased disbursement will begin from March 9, requiring a total expenditure of Tk 525.46 crore.

At a press briefing held at the Secretariat on Thursday (February 27), Labor and Employment Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain shared this information while reviewing the labour and business conditions of industrial enterprises in Beximco Industrial Park.

He stated that all 14 laid-off companies in Beximco Industrial Park would cease operations from February 28, and payments for all due salaries and benefits would be disbursed in phases starting March 9.

A total of Tk 525.46 crore is required to settle the dues of 31,669 workers and 1,565 officials. Of this amount, Tk 325.46 crore will be sourced from the Finance Division's operational expenditure fund, while Tk 200 crore will be provided as a loan from various accounts under the central fund of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
