Actress Nusraat Faria has been taken to court. She was brought to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court on Monday morning (May 19th). This follows her arrest at the airport while attempting to travel to Thailand.
Earlier, on Sunday (May 18th), the actress was interrogated at the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office.
This information was confirmed to the media by Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Muhammad Talebur Rahman.
He stated that there is an attempted murder case filed against actress Nusraat Faria at the Bhatara Police Station. Consequently, she was arrested while trying to go abroad.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman further added that the DB had completed its interrogation of the actress. He also mentioned that she would be presented in court today, Monday.
Actress Faria was en route to Thailand on a Bangladesh Biman flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (May 18th) when immigration police detained her, preventing her from leaving the country.
Actress Faria is an accused in an attempted murder case filed in the Bhatara area of the capital during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement. Besides the actress, 16 other showbiz personalities have also been named as accused in the case.
In the case filed by the plaintiff, Enamul Haque, it is claimed that former Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and 283 individuals associated with her government, along with three to four hundred unidentified people, opposed the anti-discrimination movement. Furthermore, the accused allegedly acted as fund providers for the Awami League.
