2022 K-POP Bangladesh Global Audition concluded

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea announced today the winners of the K-pop contests held in Dhaka. The event was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). Many talented Bangladeshi people, especially youngsters, interested in Korean culture and K-pop participated in the event.

A total of 86 video were submitted on K-pop performance this year. 12 teams were selected for the stage performance on 2nd July 2022 at the auditorium of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB): OMADA | Noor E Saba | Mahfuz Ahmed Mahee | Ruquiyah Binte Kalam | Mavericks | Zafrin Siddiqui | After Game | Knight Sisters | A-MAZE | SAVAGE GIRLS | RaRaLAVA | Rumaisa Islam.

Mavericks is 1st prize winner, SAVAGE GIRLS & RaRaLAVA both are 2nd Runner-ups, Rumaisa Islam and Knight Sisters become 3rd. These five best teams were awarded at the performance stage.

The 2022 K-POP World Festival is to be held in September in Changwon, Korea, pending the COVID-19 situation development. The national winners of Bangladesh are to be recommended to the 2022 K-pop World Festival organizer for its final selection for invitation to the Festival. If selected by the organizer, he/she/they will be invited to the global competition in Changwon, Korea.

Ambassador Lee Jang-keun welcomed all the participants and audience saying that this the first ever physical K-POP event was arranged by the Embassy since the pandemic hits the country that the K-POP contests were held virtually for two consecutive years. Also, Ambassador Lee highly appreciated all those Bangladesh young girls and boys who showed great interest in K-POP by participating in the contest. He added that the future of Bangladesh is very bright because of its young people who are smart, talented and eager to make a better life and better future, wishing the young winners’ dreams come true.

Professor Tanweer Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh was present as the special guest, and Mr. Syed Ashik Rahman, CEO of RTV, as the judge.

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea has been regularly holding various cultural events, such as Korean film festivals, Taekwondo competitions, and K-POP contests, to deepen the mutual understanding between Korean and Bangladeshi people through culture and strengthen bilateral ties.

The Korean Embassy expresses sincere appreciation to all participants of the contests and hopes the excellent works of the participants will help everyone to get through the challenging times.

As Bangladesh and Korea are celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties next year, the Embassy will host more dynamic cultural events to commemorate deepened bilateral friendship. The Embassy encourages more talented Bangladesh young people to participate in the next year's Kpop contest.
