Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, returning to Bangladesh after a 17-year exile in the United Kingdom, is currently traveling from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to a massive reception organized on the 300 Feet Road in the capital.
Departing at approximately 12:30 pm on Thursday, he boarded a specially prepared bulletproof bus painted in national red and green.
The vehicle, which bears the slogan ‘Bangladesh First’ and features large portraits of party founder Ziaur Rahman, Chairperson Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman himself, was stationed in front of the airport’s VIP terminal to facilitate his onward journey.
As the bus moved through the city under heavy security from law enforcement personnel, Tarique Rahman stood at the front, waving to the thousands of BNP leaders and activists who lined both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of their leader.
The gathering extended to the reception venue, where he is expected to deliver a brief address to the crowd.
Zubaida, Zaima Reach Gulshan Residence
Tarique Rahman's wife Zubaida Rahman and their daughter Zaima Rahman reached their residence at house no. 196 in Dhaka's Gulshan area around 12:55 pm on Thursday, according to sources.
Following standard security protocols, they were escorted to the residence by a convoy of police and members of the Chairperson's Security Force (CSF).
