Pakistan intensified hostilities on Saturday (May 10) by targeting places of worship and civilian areas in Jammu and Kashmir, including the iconic Shambhu Temple, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
"On 10 May 2025, Pakistan continued its hostilities by targeting places of worship like the Shambhu Temple and residential areas in Jammu. Multiple armed drones were launched through the night, endangering civilian lives and religious landmarks," the Ministry stated in an official post on X. It added that the Indian armed forces remain on high alert and are fully committed to defending the nation's sovereignty.
Increased shelling was reported in Kupwara, Uri, and Poonch, damaging homes and religious structures. In Poonch, civilian infrastructure such as houses and water tanks sustained significant damage.
"The entire house is destroyed. Even nearby homes are affected. Pakistan is targeting civilian areas—temples, mosques, gurdwaras—they haven't spared anything," said Balbir Singh, a local resident. "People are afraid, but their spirit is strong. We stand with the Indian Army."
Authorities recovered drone debris and projectile fragments from several locations, including Bishnah, Lasjan, and Akhnoor. While splinters were found in Akhnoor, no major structural damage was reported there.
In retaliation, India struck four Pakistani airbases early Saturday morning, according to sources. The precision strikes followed coordinated attacks by Pakistan on 26 locations across India. Intermittent firing continues along the Line of Control (LoC), as tensions between the two countries remain high.
