Hollywood’s awards season officially commenced on Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton as the 83rd Golden Globe Awards celebrated a mix of breakout stars and seasoned veterans.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, set the tone for the upcoming Oscars by honoring the year’s most compelling achievements in film and television.
The big screen’s standout was the comedy-drama "One Battle After Another." Entering the night with nine nominations, it secured four major trophies, including Best Film – Musical or Comedy, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.
Teyana Taylor also earned her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. In the drama categories, "Hamnet" was crowned Best Film, with lead Jessie Buckley taking home Best Actress.
Wagner Moura was named Best Actor for "The Secret Agent," which also picked up the award for Best Non-English Language Film.
Television categories saw a dominant performance by Netflix’s limited series "Adolescence," which swept four awards, including Best Limited Series.
The show’s cast—Owen Cooper, Erin Doherty, and Stephen Graham—all received acting honors. In the series categories, "The Pitt" was named Best Drama Series, while "The Studio" took home Best Comedy or Musical Series, with Noah Wyle and Seth Rogen winning Best Actor in their respective genres.
The 83rd ceremony also marked a historical milestone with the introduction of a Best Podcast category, awarded to "Good Hang with Amy Poehler."
Poehler joined a significant group of first-time winners this year, alongside Teyana Taylor and Owen Cooper. Other notable winners included Timothée Chalamet and Rose Byrne for their performances in the Musical/Comedy acting categories, and Ludwig Göransson for his original score in "Sinners."
Host Nikki Glaser closed the night on a high note, praising the star-studded audience after a monologue that expertly balanced humor with the prestige of the event.
