Following the easing of tensions between Iran and the United States, France has withdrawn its aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, from the Middle East and brought it back to its home port. French President Emmanuel Macron announced the development on Friday.

Macron stated that the aircraft carrier has returned to the naval port of Toulon in France, citing an improvement in the regional situation following the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.

However, the French President noted that France's minesweepers and other naval capabilities remain deployed in the Middle East. He emphasized that these assets will continue to operate jointly with allied nations if the need arises.

In May, the Charles de Gaulle, carrying approximately 20 Rafale fighter jets, transited the Suez Canal en route to the Gulf of Aden. It was subsequently stationed nearby, prepared for a potential "neutral" mission to ensure the safety of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
