India is keeping a close watch on the trajectory of bilateral relations following Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s recent visit to China. Concurrently, the neighboring country is also monitoring the potential impact of discussions held during the visit regarding the creation of an economic corridor between China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
During the Indian Ministry of External Affairs' weekly briefing on Friday (July 3), multiple questions were raised regarding the Bangladeshi Prime Minister's visit to China.
In response, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that India closely monitors any developments in neighboring countries and takes necessary measures at the appropriate time.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman concluded a three-day state visit to China late last month. During the head of government's visit, discussions were held on bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Furthermore, during talks with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed an economic corridor stretching from Bangladesh through Myanmar to China to "expand the scope" of connectivity and economy.
