Bangladeshi Expatriate Killed in the U.S. While Delivering Food

A Bangladeshi expatriate, Md. Mahfuzul Haque, was tragically killed in a shooting while on a food delivery shift in Philadelphia, United States.

A resident of Northeast Philadelphia, the 43-year-old victim originally hailed from the Rajshahi district of Bangladesh.

Details of the Incident
According to the Philadelphia Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday night, July 7, in the Kingsessing neighborhood.

Shortly before 9:30 PM, officers responded to reports of gunfire on the South Ethan Street block. Upon arrival, they discovered Mahfuzul Haque lying on the street next to his vehicle, which was still running.

Investigators reported that the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was rushed to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Ongoing Investigation
Police recovered a mobile phone, a DoorDash delivery bag, and two rifle shell casings from the scene. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting and to identify the perpetrators.

Community in Mourning
Mahfuzul Haque, who previously worked at Al-Sham Willow Grove, is survived by his wife and a 14-year-old child. His untimely death has cast a shadow of deep mourning over the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Pennsylvania.

The local police are currently pursuing leads, and the incident has sparked renewed concerns regarding the safety of gig workers in the region.
