Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), Advocate Tajul Islam, has alleged that various conspiracies are being orchestrated to disrupt the tribunal's judicial process.
Speaking to journalists at the tribunal on Thursday (March 27), he expressed concerns over repeated leaks of confidential information, which have put the prosecution team in a difficult position.
Due to these leaks, 22 accused individuals managed to escape after arrest warrants were issued against them. In response, a committee has been formed to investigate how sensitive information is being compromised.
Acknowledging the situation, Advocate Tajul Islam confirmed that efforts are being made to hinder the tribunal's work. He warned that if anyone within the tribunal or prosecution team is found responsible for the leaks, strict legal action will be taken.
Regarding ongoing cases, he stated that the investigation into the Chankharpul massacre, the second case under the July genocide, has been completed. According to the report, on August 5, seven individuals were shot and killed in Chankharpul, Dhaka. The case has eight accused, and a draft investigation report is now ready.
Additionally, he announced that the investigation report on Sheikh Hasina's superior command responsibility case will be submitted after Eid. Meanwhile, the tribunal has requested that the investigation report on the Ashulia case, involving the burning of six bodies, be submitted by April 28.
