Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister, Begum Khaleda Zia, is set to return to Bangladesh in mid-April, according to UK BNP President MA Malek.
He shared this update with the press following an iftar gathering organized by the Noakhali Nationalist Forum UK on the evening of March 19 in London, where prayers were held for Khaleda Zia's recovery.
"Madam's physicians are preparing accordingly and treating her with that in mind. However, the flight schedule is also a factor. If the flight isn’t available on time, the return may be delayed by a day or two. But she is ready to come back," he stated.
When asked about the possible return of BNP's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, Malek noted that the timing of his return is still uncertain. "He may come a few days after Madam Khaleda Zia leaves London. I believe both leaders will not return at the same time," he added.
The event, chaired by London City BNP Adviser Abul Hossain Jasim, was also attended by UK BNP Senior Vice-President Abul Kalam Azad, Senior Joint General Secretary Parvez Mallick, Jatiyatabadi Lawyers Forum UK General Secretary Barrister Hamidul Haque Afendi Liton, and Zia Parishad UK Chapter President Professor Dr. Saiful Alam Chowdhury as special guests.
