BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has called on the government to announce a clear and specific date for the national election rather than offering conflicting statements that create uncertainty. He urged the government to provide reassurance to the nation.
Rizvi made the remarks on Friday morning (March 28) during an Eid gift distribution event for rickshaw and auto drivers in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, held on behalf of BNP's Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman.
At the event, Rizvi stated that the interim government is confusing the national election by issuing inconsistent statements, which is only creating confusion similar to that of a fallen government.
He added, "If everyone does not make sacrifices for the mass uprising, the interim government's image will be damaged. Many people asked whether the movement was only for the election. The movement took place because the election was neither free nor fair. Sheikh Hasina failed to ensure a free and fair election and, to hold on to power, turned the country into a battlefield like Karbala."
The BNP leader also emphasized that while the interim government is not directly elected by the people, it does have public support, with all the parties involved in the movement backing it.
