Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Khulna this Monday, marking his first appearance in the city in over two decades.

The visit has sparked immense excitement among local supporters, as he is set to address a major election rally at the Probaati School ground in Khalishpur starting at 10 am.

Arranged jointly by the Khulna Metropolitan and District BNP units, the rally is expected to be one of the largest political gatherings in the region's recent history.

Monirul Hasan Bappi, Member Secretary of the Khulna District BNP, confirmed that all logistical preparations are complete.

He noted that the party high command has issued special directives to ensure the event’s success, with activists working around the clock to create a memorable reception for the Chairman.

The significance of the visit is heightened by the long interval since Tarique Rahman’s last public appearance in the city.

According to Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, General Secretary of the Metropolitan BNP, Tarique Rahman last visited Khulna in 2004 to attend a grassroots representatives' assembly.

Local leaders, including Khulna-2 candidate Nazrul Islam Manju, reported a "festive atmosphere" across the district, predicting a massive and spontaneous turnout from people of all walks of life.

The Khulna rally is a key stop in Tarique Rahman's ongoing nationwide campaign tour ahead of the February 12 general elections.

Security measures in and around the Khalishpur area have been intensified, and party volunteers are being deployed to manage the expected influx of thousands of attendees from across the division.
