The Bangladesh team had set out with the aim of winning the Champions Trophy. However, after suffering two consecutive losses, their hopes of progressing were dashed. In the final match, the Tigers were hoping to end their campaign with a win over Pakistan. Unfortunately, rain interrupted the game, and the match was abandoned, leaving Bangladesh with just one point as they returned home.
On Thursday (February 27), the toss was scheduled for 2:30 pm Bangladesh time in Rawalpindi. However, due to persistent rain, the toss was never conducted. After waiting for hours with no improvement in the weather, the umpires declared the match abandoned.
Earlier, on the previous day, Bangladesh's practice session was planned for 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time. However, with overcast skies and light rain throughout the morning, the team management decided to cancel the session.
The pitch in Rawalpindi remained covered, and the host Pakistan team also faced disruptions in their practice due to the weather. They only managed light warm-ups and some football exercises to stay prepared.
Bangladesh's tournament campaign had begun with a defeat to India, followed by another loss to New Zealand, which sealed their exit from the competition.
