Amid recent speculation and debate regarding the fate of bilateral cricket with India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has clarified its stance.
The board confirmed that the scheduled series against India has not been canceled; rather, plans are underway to host it this year according to a rescheduled timeline.
Tensions had recently surfaced in the cricketing circles of both nations following Mustafizur Rahman's exclusion from the IPL and the Bangladesh team's withdrawal from the T20 World Cup citing security concerns.
To address the resulting friction between the BCB and the BCCI, the Bangladesh board has taken formal steps to restore bilateral relations.
BCB has sent an official letter to the Indian Cricket Board as part of this rebuilding process. Following this development, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee, and Shahriar Nafees, In-charge of Cricket Operations, spoke with the media.
"Bilateral series are part of the FTP (Future Tours Program)," Shahriar Nafees stated. "The series against India that was supposed to take place last year has been rescheduled for this year. We maintain very regular communication with every board."
His remarks signal that the BCB remains optimistic about the series and that high-level board communications are ongoing.
National Team Preparation in Mirpur
Meanwhile, a fitness camp for national team players is currently underway in Mirpur. Nafees noted that players are training hard and making positive progress despite the weather.
"The players are putting in a lot of effort, and the practice is going well. We hope to maintain this momentum until the New Zealand series. It’s a bit hot, but the players are adapting quickly," he added.
He further explained that while the initial sessions focused solely on fitness and fielding, the regime has now expanded to include skill-based training.
The BCB’s clarification provides a sense of relief to cricket fans amidst the recent uncertainty, even as the team turns its immediate focus toward preparations for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
